Essential Oils
Fragrance is a story told in layers, and essential oils are categorized into top, middle, and base notes. These layers unfold over time, creating a scent that evolves beautifully on the skin.
The Notes
Top Notes
The first impression of a fragrance is light and uplifting. These oils evaporate quickly, usually within 15–30 minutes.
Middle Notes
The “heart” of a fragrance, emerging once the top notes fade. They create balance, warmth, and fullness, lasting 2–4 hours.
Base Notes
The foundation of a fragrance, anchoring the blend with depth and richness. These oils are grounding and long-lasting, often lingering for many hours or even days.
Examples:
Lemon, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Orange, Lime, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lavender
Rose, Jasmine, Geranium, Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Cinnamon, Allspice
Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Myrrh, Patchouli, Vetiver, Vanilla
When blended thoughtfully, these layers combine into a fragrance that is harmonious, complex, and uniquely personal. At Brimka Haus, we carefully balance top, middle, and base notes so that each perfume oil tells a complete story—one that lingers gracefully over time.
What are essential oils?
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts that capture the natural aroma and beneficial properties of flowers, leaves, fruits, bark, and roots. They are obtained through methods such as steam distillation or cold pressing, ensuring that the purest essence of the plant is preserved.

Each essential oil carries its own unique fragrance profile—whether it’s the refreshing brightness of citrus, the calming floral notes of lavender, or the grounding richness of sandalwood. Beyond their beautiful aromas, essential oils have been valued for centuries in perfumery, wellness, and ritual for their ability to uplift, soothe, and connect us to nature.

At Brimka Haus, we use only pure essential oils to craft our perfume oils, and candles ensuring that every fragrance is authentic, clean, and free from synthetic additives.

The history of essential oils.
The use of essential oils reaches back thousands of years, woven into the daily lives, rituals, and medicines of some of the world’s earliest civilizations. Ancient Egyptians are among the first recorded people to distill and use plant oils. They valued them for purification, beauty treatments, and religious ceremonies, often using oils like frankincense, myrrh, and cedarwood in mummification and temple offerings. Oils were considered so precious that they were often traded as highly valued commodities.

In ancient Greece, essential oils found a place in both medicine and daily living. Physicians such as Hippocrates, known as the “Father of Medicine,” emphasized the therapeutic benefits of plants and oils for health and wellness. Oils like rosemary, thyme, and lavender were commonly used for their healing and cleansing qualities. The Greeks also adopted and expanded upon Egyptian knowledge, spreading the use of aromatic oils across the Mediterranean.

The Romans further embraced essential oils, using them generously in their famed public baths, massages, and personal grooming. Fragrant oils symbolized luxury and refinement, while also being believed to support both physical and emotional well-being. Meanwhile, in India and China, oils were central to ancient systems of medicine such as Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, where they were incorporated into holistic approaches to healing mind, body, and spirit.

During the Middle Ages in Europe, knowledge of essential oils was preserved largely by monks and scholars. Distillation techniques advanced, allowing more refined extraction of plant essences. Oils like clove, cinnamon, and peppermint were valued not only for fragrance but also for their role in supporting health during a time when natural remedies were heavily relied upon.

By the Renaissance and into modern times, essential oils became firmly established in perfumery, cosmetics, and medicine. Today, they are cherished worldwide for their purity, versatility, and ability to connect us back to nature. At Brimka Haus, we continue this timeless tradition—blending essential oils with patience and care, honoring both their history and their enduring beauty.
