Why Brimka Haus Botanicals Doesn’t Make “Fancy” Candles — And Why That’s Intentional

Updated: Jan 11

In the world of handmade candles, it’s easy to get swept up in trends: brightly colored wax melts, candles topped with gemstones, glitter, dried flowers, or icing-like wax decorations. They’re eye-catching, fun to photograph, and undeniably popular on social media.

But at Brimka Haus Botanicals, you’ll notice something different.

Our candles are simple. Minimal. Clean.

No dyes. No toppings. No hidden surprises inside.

And that’s not because we can’t make those things — it’s because we won’t.

Safety Comes Before Aesthetics

A candle is, at its core, a controlled flame. Anything added to that flame affects how it burns, how evenly it melts, and what gets released into the air.

Many decorative elements — even ones marketed as “natural” — can:

• Disrupt the melt pool

• Cause tunneling or uneven burning

• Overheat the wick

• Create soot

• Release unknown compounds when burned

• Increase the risk of flame flares or container overheating

Pure soy wax, left uncolored and unadorned, burns cleaner and more predictably. That matters to me. It matters to the people who use my candles in their homes. And it matters to the air we all breathe.

Why You Won’t See Colored Wax Melts Here

I am often asked about colored wax melts. The truth is simple:

There is no reliably safe, natural way to color wax that also burns cleanly.

Plant powders scorch. Clays clog wicks. Micas don’t burn cleanly.

And synthetic dyes — even the “candle-safe” ones — introduce ingredients I don’t want in your air or my products.

My melts retain their natural creamy color.

Not because they’re unfinished, but because they’re intentional.

No Gemstones, No Glitter, No Toppings

Candles topped with gemstones, botanicals, or decorative wax pieces look beautiful on a shelf — but they’re not designed for a safe, consistent burn.

Anything sitting on top of the wax becomes fuel once the candle is lit.

That means:

• Uneven melting

• Wick drowning

• Flame instability

• Hot spots in the container

• Increased soot

• Potential safety hazards

I’m not willing to compromise burn quality for aesthetics.

Your candle should be beautiful because of its craftsmanship — not because of add-ons that interfere with how it performs.

Clean Air Matters

Every ingredient in a candle becomes part of the air you breathe.

That’s why Brimka Haus Botanicals uses:

• 100% soy wax

• High-quality, pure essential oils

• Cotton braided wicks with a paper thread filament

• No dyes

• No additives

• No decorative elements that burn unpredictably

A candle should enhance your space — not pollute it.

Minimalism Is a Choice, Not a Limitation

My candles are designed to be:

• Elegant

• Understated

• Safe

• Clean-burning

• Made with integrity

Minimalism isn’t “less.”

It’s more of what matters — more safety, more purity, more intention.

At Brimka Haus Botanicals, beauty comes from simplicity, craftsmanship, and respect for the materials. Not from trends that compromise the burn.

A Candle Should Be a Comfort, Not a Risk

When you light one of my candles, I want you to feel good about what’s in it — and what isn’t.

No distractions.

No gimmicks.

Just a clean, elegant flame made with care.
